Don ’65 and Kitty CB’66 Schumacher have made a gift to both Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict to establish an unrestricted endowment. They believe strongly in the importance of building and strengthening the financial foundation of the colleges. 
 
“We have every confidence in the leadership at Saint John’s and Saint Benedict’s and in the work they are guiding,” the Schumachers stressed.
 
The Schumacher family has been involved with the colleges since Don’s aunt, Sister Irma Schumacher, helped found the College of Saint Benedict. Don was born and raised in St. Michael, MN. He received a BA in economics from Saint John’s in 1965 and an MBA from Arizona State University in 1970. He is currently the CFO and Executive Vice President of the Cretex Companies, a diversified manufacturing company based in Elk River, MN. Don joined the Saint John’s Board of Regents in 2004.
 
Kitty Ernst Schumacher graduated from Saint Benedict’s in 1966, and she and Don were married later that year. Kitty is owner of Kitty’s Glitter in Elk River, MN and is active in the CSB Alumnae Association. They are parents of Greg ’91, Steve ’93, Dan ’96 and Deb CSB’96.
