October 5, 2007 - $150 Million Reached
Speaking to a capacity crowd at the Alumni Association Homecoming Banquet, Dan Whalen '70, Chair of the Saint John's capital campaign, jubilantly announced that Saint John's had crossed a historic milestone in its ambitious fund raising drive: $150 million. "This campaign will advance our strategic priorities and strengthen the financial footings of the University and the Abbey, and it will further our Benedictine educational mission, from one generation to the next," Dan observed. "I can't think of a more fitting way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Saint John's."
August 27, 2007 - $140 Million Reached
Saint John's announces it reached $140 million towards a $150 million goal. A $5 million gift pledge from Dan and Katharine Whalen for the creation of the Eugene J. McCarthy Center for Public Policy and Civic Engagement helped Saint John's reach this important campaign milestone.
February 15, 2007 - $125 Million Reached
Saint John’s announced it has reached a historic milestone in its capital campaign by surpassing $125 million toward the $150 million goal.
June 30, 2006 - $110 Million Mark
On June 30, 2006 we crossed the $110 million mark for the campaign, putting us in reach of meeting and possibly exceeding our ambitious goal.
January 15, 2006 - $100 Million Reached
Since we went public at Homecoming '05, we have reached $100 million. We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary support that we have received thus far from more than 19,000 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, foundations, corporations and friends.
As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Saint John’s, we seek to strengthen our financial footings and meet our most pressing needs—expanding student financial aid and improving educational excellence—all the while advancing our mission of "renewing the fabric of community, one generation to the next, ever striving for excellence, ever grounded in Benedictine tradition."
September 30, 2005 – Historic Campaign Announced
On September 30, 2005 as Dan Whalen '70, chair of the Board of Regents, announced the largest capital campaign in Saint John's history, One Generation to the Next: The Campaign for Saint John’s. At the time of this announcement, $90 million has been raised.
"Based on our remarkable fund raising progress to date, the Saint John’s Board of Regents has authorized the largest capital campaign in our history," explained Whalen. "This campaign coincides with the 150th anniversary of Saint John’s – our Sesquicentennial. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the goal for the Saint John’s campaign, One Generation to the Next, has been set at $150 million!"

March 2004 - $10 million commitment
Saint John's announces $10 million commitment from Bill and Joyce Sexton.
