President's Associate Medallions
IV. Alcuin Library – Gifts of $250-$324
(Marcel Breuer, 1964) Alcuin Library is named for Alcuin of York, an eighth-century monk and teacher, who was patron of Alcuin Deutsch, Saint John’s fifth abbot. Uniquely engineered with concrete trees that support the structure from the inside, the library houses over half-a-million books, 210,000 government documents, various special collections, and audio-visual materials.
V. Clemens Stadium – Gifts of $325-$399
(Sam Chute, 1908; renovated 1922, 1933 & 1986; Ellerbe Becket, 1997) Once a cranberry bog, the "Natural Bowl" first opened as a stadium in 1909. Renovated in 1997 and named Clemens Stadium, in honor of Bill ’42 and Virginia Clemens, the stadium now includes an all-weather track, new grandstand, improved press box and concession stand, and a new entrance.
VI. Frank House – Gifts of $400-$499
(Raphael Knapp OSB, 1904; renovated 1914, 1983 & 1992; on National Historic Register) Saint Francis House was the convent for Franciscan sisters who staffed and managed Saint John’s dining service for over fifty years. It later became an undergraduate residence and now serves as the study, worship, and living space for seminarians.
