Alumni Career Resources
Job search seminars and networking sessions in the Twin Cities are just two examples of offerings to help alumni, alumnae and CSB/SJU parents who seek to expand contacts and hone job hunting skills during a work transition.
Thom Woodward ’70 in the SJU Alumni Office notes, “While we are conducting special programs in the Cities with the help of some outstanding alumnae and alumni volunteers, JohnniesConnect and LinkedIn are two great tools for alumni around the world.” He adds that handouts and highlights from the quarterly job search classes are available through the links below.
As Dave Roy ’83 puts it, “In the last eight years I have been unemployed three times for, thankfully, short periods. I ALWAYS feel like I could call any Johnnie at anytime to network. That is a big piece of the value of being a Johnnie!!”
Woodward’s advice for those searching for a new job or making a career transition is to stay focused and remain positive. He says, “Keep your chin up and your head on straight…You can see the future much better that way!”
Alumni are encouraged to check here regularly for updates on programming, helpful articles and additional Web links.
The recent economic downturn has been a reminder to many people about the importance of maintaining a close and supportive network. Below are resources alumni can use to stay in touch with friends, network and even just brush up on interviewing skills.
Go Online to Search for a Job
The SJU Alumni Office has partnered with CSB/SJU Career Resources to offer E-link to our alumni. E-link is an online resource for posting job and internship opportunities. This tool is made available exclusively to students and alumni of SJU and CSB, so you can cut through the clutter of other job search sites.

JohnniesConnect – Alumni Directory
JohnniesConnect is a free service with more than 45,000 CSB/SJU alumni listings for you to use for networking and keeping in touch with classmates and friends. If you haven’t yet signed up, please email us for your first time user ID.
As a friendly reminder, please note that not all alumni are prepared to provide job opportunities. Feel free to approach alumni with networking in mind, but not necessarily with the direct objective of obtaining a position from them or with their current employer. Additionally, please realize that although many alumni wish to help, some may have challenging schedules. Therefore, please be sensitive to the time certain alumni are able to give, and cast a wide net when networking.
JohnniesConnect – Yellow Pages
Promote your business to other Johnnies and Bennies through JohnniesConnect Yellow Pages. Registered JohnniesConnect users can simply log on and create a listing. If you haven’t yet registered for JohnniesConnect, please email us for your first time user ID.
Post and Search for Jobs and Resumes
Post your resume and search for jobs on E-link, Career Services' electronic career tool. The site has username and password instructions to get you started. You can also visit E-link if you’re an employer seeking alums and students to fill positions.
Johnnies and Bennies on LinkedIn
Johnnies and Bennies have created several groups on LinkedIn. Visit our official LinkedIn page, "Saint John's University Alumni Association (MN)" or simply to go LinkedIn and search for “CSB/SJU,” "SJU" or "Saint John's" to find groups created by other alumni. If you haven’t yet registered for LinkedIn, you can register at the LinkedIn Home Page.
